How to Better Focus on Work (Productivity Hacks)


For almost two years, I could not focus on my work. My performance was poor at my official work. My boss warned me, but I failed to improve my productivity, and finally, he fired me nicely from the job. 
 
It was the most challenging time in my life. Actually, I used to play video games a lot. In a sense, I was addicted to video games. This addiction played a negative role in my work.
 
But the good news is that now I am a good performer at work, which was only possible because of my friend. He is a renowned career coach. 
 
However, this learning has inspired me to write about how to focus better on work. What I have learned from my life, what I have learned from my coach, and what I have learned from books, everything I have written.

 Allocate time for video games and social media. Set aside a specific time for distractions. Oh, one more thing I did. I disabled the social media notification option so that it couldn't distract me.

Maintain a distraction-free computer

This point is mainly for those who always work on a desktop or laptop.

  • Look at the programs and applications you have installed on your computer. If there are any that you don't use or that you find distracting, uninstall those.
  • Remove all the clutter from your desktop—for example, unneeded open tabs, half-finished documents, etc.
  • Maintain a virus-free computer to save you the hassle of checking and repairs during work.
  • Disable any notifications that pop up on your computer screen. 
 
Oh, I forgot to point out an essential matter. Do you have any games on your computer? If you have, remove it immediately.
 
These things can help you focus on work if you work on a computer.
 

Block out distractions

Sounds from various sources may distract you. How can you increase focus and productivity if this happens in your workplace? Your coworkers may talk, outside sounds may enter your office, and many more things may happen. Then how to get rid of bad distractions?

Go outside

It is important to find a place to walk away from potential distractions. A park or nature trail is a great option. Once you have found a place to walk, it is important to keep a relaxed mindset.
